Bringing People Together Through Food

This special event was the first in a new series of community-focused culinary experiences spearheaded by Guckenheimer and Amanda Freitag. Our goal is simple but powerful — use food as a tool to drive connection and impact.

ISS and Guckenheimer are proud to be one of the first corporate partners supporting GLWD’s anniversary capital campaign, aiming to help the organization expand its kitchen and increase its capacity to serve the community. Currently, GLWD delivers 15,000 nutritious meals each day to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-altering conditions.

A Tribute to New York’s Culinary Roots

Titled “Nourishing New York Through the Decades,” the event featured reimagined dishes from GLWD’s archive of recipes. Guckenheimer chefs worked closely with Amanda Freitag and the GLWD culinary team to honor the communities served by the organization, creating modern interpretations of beloved meals with deep local roots.

Guests enjoyed a borough-by-borough journey through New York City, with dishes like carrot lox and Reuben sliders from Brooklyn, heart of palm ceviche from the Bronx, and sweet potato japchae from Manhattan among many more. Each station reflected a distinct neighborhood and its cultural influences, blending nostalgia and culinary innovation to craft exciting flavors.

The evening also featured a range of desserts, cocktails and mocktails inspired by the five boroughs. Each drink was crafted with care, balancing bold flavors with GLWD’s history of compassion and community engagement.

A Shared Mission

This partnership reflects ISS and Guckenheimer’s ongoing dedication to using hospitality as a force for good. By joining forces with Amanda Freitag and GLWD, we’re seeking to raise awareness and build community, using culinary experiences to drive meaningful change.

We believe in the power of shared meals to build stronger relationships and create moments that matter.
